Waadtland Cheese Fritters

Ingredients:
- 4 Slices toast, each
- -1 3/8 inches thick
- 2 1/2 fl White wine
- 5 1/2 oz Gruyere cheese, grated
- 1 Egg
- Paprika
- Pepper
Instructions:
Moisten the slices of toast with a little of the wine and arrange on a
baking sheet. Mix the rest of the wine with the cheese, egg and spices to
a fairly thick paste and spread on the toast. Sprinkle with more paprika
and pepper. Bake briefly in a very hot oven (445 degrees F/Gas mark 8)
until cheese begins to melt, serve at once.
