Place ingredients into a blender jar (except for the bread). Blend until
smooth. Strain into a bowl. Dip slices of bread into mixture, coating both
sides. Brown on a medium-hot, non-stick griddle, turning once so both sides
are evenly browned. Serve plain, with fruit sauces or pure maple syrup.
HELPFUL HINTS: For a large amount, the recipe can easily be doubled. This
freezes very nicely if individually wrapped and can be popped into the
toaster for reheating.
1/2 c Cashews -- raw
2 1/4 c Water
3 tb Dates -- chopped
1/8 ts Ground cinnamon
1 ds Turmeric
16 Whole-wheat bread slices
