Fish and Chips in Beer Batter

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lb Cod fillets
- 1/3 c Fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 Minced large white onion
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 6 md Potatoes
- Vegetable oil
- BEER BATTER
- 1/2 c Flour
- 1 ts Paprika
- Cayenne pepper
- Malt vinegar (optional)
Instructions:
Cut fish into serving pieces & place in flat bowl. Sprinkle fish with
lemon juice, onion, salt & pepper to taste, marinate 1 hour. Wash &
peel potatoes; cut into strips & rinse in cold water: drain well. Fry
potatoes in deep oil heated to 375 until nearly tender; drain &
spread on paper towels. Sift together flour, 1 tsp. salt, pepper &
cayenne to taste into flat dish; dust fish in flour. Dip fish into
beer batter & fry until golden brown & crisp. Refry potatoes until
golden brown: drain. Serve with malt vinegar.
